Glasgow Mutual Aid is a group of volunteers supporting individuals and organising mutual aid throughout the Covid-19 outbreak in the UK. We focus on providing resources and connecting people to willing volunteers and those in need. Volunteers can help by:

  • Picking up groceries
  • Obtaining resources
  • Food preparation
  • Pet care (e.g. dog walking)
  • Poster distribution
  • Health advice / check in
  • Emotional support / advice
  • Childcare/babysitting
  • Setting up a group in your local area

If you think you can help with any of these then please use the link here.

If you would like to support the organisation of Glasgow Mutual Aid group activities, please view the Working Groups and join any of interest.

PLEASE NOTE: Glasgow Mutual Aid is run entirely by volunteers and not medical professionals. We’re all community members and groups wanting to support the most vulnerable with errands, information distribution and emotional comfort. For up to date medical advice you should continue to check the NHS Website [[1]] for further announcements.

PRIORITISE SAFETY: Community care is about preventing the spread of Covid-19 and providing support for the most vulnerable. Before engaging in mutual aid, please familiarise yourself with Queercare’s guidelines on how to support others without spreading the infection. Those who are self isolating can get involved in online or phone based organising.

A WORK-IN-PROGRESS: We’re developing resources over the coming days to support groups and individuals in the Glasgow area - please bear with us!.

Volunteering[edit | edit source]

Anyone is welcome to volunteer - even if you are in self-isolation you can help! The application form and general information for those interested in becoming volunteers can be found here [[2]] You can either volunteer as an area volunteer to help people in your area with grocery shopping, prescription pick-ups etc. or you can join us in our working groups that are organising the back-end of things or as a phone handler who handles requests that come through the phone.

Working Groups[edit | edit source]

One of the main ways we will be organising is through the use of Working Groups, which are smaller groups with specific organising purposes e.g to figure out how we will obtain food and medicine. These Working Groups are organised through Slack. If you want to get involved with the organisational backside of things, please email us at glasgowmutualaid@protonmail.com.
